MyCase Alternatives and MyCase Competitors Priced by the Plan That Runs Intake

Small US firms start looking for a MyCase alternative for a few specific reasons: a renewal where every new hire adds another per user charge, the discovery that MyCase Basic has no intake forms or lead CRM, or a run of web inquiries that went cold before anyone called back. This page sets out what MyCase publishes, read from mycase.com/pricing on 5 October 2026, where MyCase is still the right buy, what each realistic competitor costs, and when the problem costing you new clients is solved by a smaller product.

In short

MyCase charges $60, $120 and $150 per user a month, or $50, $100 and $130 billed yearly, read from its own pricing page on 5 October 2026. Client intake forms and the legal CRM start on MyCase Pro, and Conflict Check Tracking only on MyCase Advanced, so the honest intake floor is $100 per user a month and a five person firm pays $500 a month for it. The closest rival that prints every price is PracticePanther, whose intake tier is $89 per user yearly. If the job you need done is screening and booking each new inquiry before another firm answers, Consultations runs that conversation on your website from $49 a month, flat per firm.

Attorney and legal assistant checking the consultation calendar on a tablet at the front desk of a small law office

MyCase, part of 8am, is all in one practice management for small and mid size US firms: cases and contacts, time entry, invoicing and trust accounting, online payments, document storage and a client portal on every plan, then from MyCase Pro intake forms, a legal CRM, workflows, eSignature and two way texting. Consultations does one job at the front door. It talks to the prospective client the moment they reach your website, asks your screening questions in plain conversation, checks the answers against the matters you take, collects the documents and the party names a conflict check needs, and books the consultation, then hands the attorney a structured brief. If you want one system for billing and every open case, MyCase is built for that and prints its price. If new clients slip away because nobody reached them in time, that part can be fixed this week without changing practice management.

Why pros pick Consultations

One AI conversation that qualifies, intakes, books, and briefs

An AI conversation, not a form

Instead of a static form or a calendar link, our AI talks with each lead in plain language, qualifies them against your criteria, and asks for exactly what you need to know.

The whole front door in one place

Qualify, intake, collect documents, book the paid appointment, and produce a prepped brief, all in a single conversation, so you stop stitching tools together.

You walk in prepared

Every booked meeting comes with a clean brief of who is coming and why, so you only take the right consultations and you are ready before the call starts.

Why firms look for a MyCase alternative

Few firms leave MyCase because it is hard to use. It is built for small practices that want cases, time, invoices, trust accounting and payments in one place, and it prints every price on its pricing page, which many legal vendors still refuse to do. The reasons people start comparing tend to be narrower than that.

The first is how the bill scales. Every plan is priced per user, so a six person firm on MyCase Pro pays $600 a month on annual billing and $720 on monthly billing. Hire two more people and the same software doing the same job costs $800 or $960. Annual billing saves $240 per user a year on Pro, which is real money, but it does not change the shape of the curve.

The second is what MyCase Basic leaves out. At $60 a month, or $50 yearly, Basic covers case and contact management, time entry, invoicing, trust accounting, online payments and a limited client portal. Client intake forms, the legal CRM, automated workflows, eSignature and two way texting all arrive on Pro. The third reason is the one that decides revenue: forms and a CRM help once a person is working the lead, but a prospective client who reaches your website at 9 at night and gets no answer signs with whichever firm responds first.

  • Per user pricing, so every hire raises the bill
  • Intake forms and the legal CRM start on MyCase Pro, $120 or $100 yearly
  • Conflict Check Tracking is on MyCase Advanced, $150 or $130 yearly
  • Annual billing saves up to 16 percent
  • Staff still screen and call back every new inquiry

What MyCase includes for intake on each plan

MyCase Basic, at $60 per user a month or $50 billed yearly, covers case and contact management, time entry, invoicing and trust accounting, online payments with next day deposits, customizable reporting, unlimited document storage and a limited client portal. There is no intake form builder and no lead CRM on this plan.

MyCase Pro, at $120 or $100 yearly, is where intake starts. It adds client intake forms, which MyCase describes as dynamic, customizable online forms, a legal CRM with online lead forms for tracking and converting leads, automated workflows, unlimited eSignature and document generation, two way texting, chat and a call log, and more than 70 integrations. MyCase Advanced, at $150 or $130 yearly, adds Conflict Check Tracking, full content search of scanned files, split billing, advanced document automation and an open API.

What none of the plans describes is the software holding the first conversation with a prospective client. A lead form captures a name and a message. Answering a cold website visitor, asking the right screening questions in the right order, and putting a qualified consultation on the calendar is still a person's job inside MyCase, or a separate vendor's.

  • Basic $60 or $50: cases, time, invoicing, trust, payments, no intake forms
  • Pro $120 or $100: intake forms, legal CRM, workflows, eSignature, texting
  • Advanced $150 or $130: conflict check tracking, full content search, open API
  • MyCase Accounting is a separate $39 per user a month
  • Not described: the software screening and booking the lead itself

What intake costs a five person firm on MyCase

The cleanest way to see the price of intake on MyCase is the step from Basic to Pro, because that step exists mostly to unlock intake forms, the CRM and workflows. On annual billing it is $50 more per user a month. For a five person firm that is $250 a month, or $3,000 a year, on top of what Basic already costs. On monthly billing the step is $60 per user, or $3,600 a year for the same five seats.

If you also want MyCase to track conflicts, the firm moves to Advanced: $130 per user yearly, or $650 a month for five people. That is $7,800 a year, against $3,000 for the same five seats on Basic.

Those are fair prices for what each plan delivers, and a firm that uses the workflows, eSignature and texting every day gets value from Pro well beyond intake. The comparison only matters if intake was the reason for the upgrade. A firm that would stay on Basic but for the intake forms is paying $3,000 a year for a feature that still needs a person to answer the inquiry.

  • Basic to Pro for intake: plus $50 per user a month yearly, plus $60 monthly
  • Five users, Basic to Pro: $3,000 a year extra on annual billing
  • Five users on Advanced for conflict tracking: $7,800 a year
  • Consultations Practice for up to five professionals: $129 a month, or $768 a year
  • Every MyCase figure read from mycase.com/pricing on 5 October 2026

Where MyCase is still the better buy

If your firm needs billing, trust accounting and case management in one place and you want every price printed, MyCase is one of the clearest options on the market. All three plans are on the pricing page with both billing periods, the free trial starts without a credit card, and LawPay payments carry no monthly fee.

It also suits a firm whose staff already work the phones well. Three people on MyCase Pro annual pay $300 a month for full practice management including intake forms, the CRM and texting, which is hard to beat if those three people also have time to call every new inquiry back within minutes.

So this page does not argue that you should leave MyCase. It argues that you should know which job you are paying the Pro rate for on every seat, and whether the job losing you new clients is a smaller one you can fix without a migration.

  • Small firms that want billing, trust and cases in one tool
  • Firms that want every price printed and a no card trial
  • Teams that use workflows, eSignature and texting daily
  • Firms already taking payments through LawPay
  • Stable headcount where per user pricing stays modest

MyCase competitors, by the job you are replacing

PracticePanther is the closest like for like comparison. Read on 2 October 2026, it charges $59, $79, $99 and $124 per user a month, or $49, $69, $89 and $114 billed yearly, with intake forms, texting and eSignature starting on Business. For intake, PracticePanther Business at $89 yearly is $11 cheaper per user than MyCase Pro at $100.

Clio publishes an entry price from $49 per user a month, and its Clio Grow intake and CRM product is bundled into the top Clio plans and sold as an add on to the middle ones. CasePeer, built for personal injury firms, charges $90, $130 and $160 per user a month, with intake from its Pro plan. Smokeball routes pricing through sales. If you mainly want a different intake layer rather than a different practice system, the names are Lawmatics, Lead Docket and Law Ruler, all quote only, and all of them still depend on staff to hold the first conversation.

If the bottleneck is response time, or inquiries arrive after the office has closed, the alternative is a different kind of product rather than a different practice management suite.

  • Like for like practice management: PracticePanther, $89 per user yearly for intake forms
  • Clio, from $49 per user, with Grow for intake on higher plans
  • Personal injury: CasePeer, intake from Pro at $130 per user
  • Quote only: Smokeball, Lawmatics, Lead Docket, Law Ruler
  • The website conversation itself, at any hour: an AI intake agent from $49 a month

Running Consultations with MyCase, or instead of it

The most common setup keeps MyCase for billing and cases and puts Consultations at the front door of the website. The prospective client talks to the intake conversation, answers the screening questions your firm defines, names the other parties, uploads the documents the matter needs and books a consultation if they fit. The completed intake exports into MyCase, where your team opens the case. That lets a firm on MyCase Basic screen and book web leads without moving every seat to Pro for intake alone.

Choosing Consultations instead of MyCase makes sense for a firm that went shopping mainly to stop losing inquiries and already bills in another tool. Solo is $49 a month for one attorney. Practice, at $129 for up to five professionals, adds document collection during intake and qualification rules per practice area. Firm, at $299 for up to twenty, adds voice intake alongside chat and advanced integrations. All three are flat per firm, with no implementation fee.

Every plan is paid by card, monthly with no annual term or once a year at half the monthly price: $288, $768 or $1,788. You can run the intake conversation at the top of this page right now and see what a prospective client sees.

  • Alongside MyCase: web intake runs first, the record exports to your case
  • Keeps a MyCase Basic firm off Pro seats for intake alone
  • Captures every party name at intake, so the conflict search has clean input
  • Instead of MyCase, if the conversation was the job: from $49 a month
  • No per user charge and no implementation fee

Good questions

MyCase vs Consultations, answered

Yes. Consultations runs the intake conversation on your website, qualifies the inquiry against your criteria, records the parties involved, collects documents and books the consultation. The completed intake is exportable, so your team can open the case in MyCase and bill from there as usual.
No, it is per firm. Solo is $49 a month for one professional, Practice is $129 for up to five and Firm is $299 for up to twenty. Pay monthly with no annual term, or once a year at half the monthly price: $288, $768 or $1,788. There is no implementation fee.
No. It handles intake, qualification, document collection and scheduling only. It asks the questions your firm defines, tells a prospective client honestly when the matter falls outside what you take, and leaves every legal judgment to the attorney, who gets a structured brief before the consultation.
No to both. It captures the client, adverse and related party names during intake, which is the input a conflict search depends on, but the search itself stays in your practice management system. It does not track time, send invoices, take payments or run trust accounting.
