Rocket Matter Alternatives and Rocket Matter Competitors Priced for Intake

Small US firms start looking for a Rocket Matter alternative for a few specific reasons: a renewal where the per user bill has grown with every hire, the discovery that intake forms live in a separate CRM add-on with its own onboarding fee, or a run of web inquiries that went cold before anyone called back. This page sets out what Rocket Matter publishes, read from rocketmatter.com/pricing on 6 October 2026, where Rocket Matter is still the right buy, what each realistic competitor costs, and when the problem costing you new clients is solved by a smaller product.

In short

Rocket Matter charges $59, $95, $115 and $145 per user a month on annual billing for Essentials, Pro, Premier and Elite, read from its own pricing page on 6 October 2026. Intake forms are not in any of those plans: they come with the Rocket Matter CRM add-on, sold only on Pro and Premier, at $39 per user a month yearly with a $399 onboarding fee and a 3 user minimum. That makes the honest intake floor $134 per user a month, and about $212 a month for a solo attorney. If the job you need done is screening and booking each new inquiry before another firm answers, Consultations runs that conversation on your website from $49 a month, flat per firm.

Paralegal working through law firm files and billing on a laptop in the evening, phone on the desk

Rocket Matter, part of ProfitSolv, is practice management built around billing for small and mid size US firms: time and expense tracking, invoicing, trust accounting and Rocket Matter Pay on every plan, then matter workflows, a client portal and document assembly, and on Elite full law office accounting. Lead capture and intake forms sit in a separate add-on, Rocket Matter CRM. Consultations does one job at the front door. It talks to the prospective client the moment they reach your website, asks your screening questions in plain conversation, checks the answers against the matters you take, collects the documents and the party names a conflict search needs, and books the consultation on your calendar. It does not bill, keep trust accounts or manage matters, and it is priced flat per firm instead of per user.

Why pros pick Consultations

One AI conversation that qualifies, intakes, books, and briefs

An AI conversation, not a form

Instead of a static form or a calendar link, our AI talks with each lead in plain language, qualifies them against your criteria, and asks for exactly what you need to know.

The whole front door in one place

Qualify, intake, collect documents, book the paid appointment, and produce a prepped brief, all in a single conversation, so you stop stitching tools together.

You walk in prepared

Every booked meeting comes with a clean brief of who is coming and why, so you only take the right consultations and you are ready before the call starts.

Why firms look for a Rocket Matter alternative

Few firms leave Rocket Matter because the billing is weak. Billing is what it was built for, and the pricing page lists more than 30 billing and payment features, from evergreen retainers to LEDES e-billing. The reasons people start comparing tend to sit elsewhere.

The first is that intake is not part of the plan you buy. Essentials, Pro, Premier and Elite all cover matters, time, invoices and trust accounting, but the lead inbox, the custom intake form and the automations that follow up with new leads belong to Rocket Matter CRM, a separate add-on. The pricing page says the CRM add-on is only available for Pro and Premier, so an Essentials firm has to upgrade every seat before it can buy intake at all.

The second is the way the bill stacks. The plan is per user, the Core CRM is per user again, there is a $399 one time onboarding fee and a 3 user minimum on the CRM. The third reason is the one that decides revenue: an intake form helps once someone is working the lead, but a prospective client who reaches your website at 9 at night and gets no answer signs with whichever firm responds first.

  • Per user pricing on the plan and again on the CRM add-on
  • No intake forms on Essentials; the CRM add-on is sold on Pro and Premier only
  • $399 one time CRM onboarding fee and a 3 user minimum
  • Website service is another $149 a month plus $599 setup
  • Staff still screen and call back every new inquiry

What Rocket Matter includes for intake on each plan

Essentials, at $59 per user a month on annual billing, covers time and expense tracking, invoicing, trust accounting, Rocket Matter Pay, task management, a matter calendar and 25 GB of document storage. Pro, at $95, adds unlimited storage, matter templates and workflows with status automation, document assembly and more e-signatures. Premier, at $115, adds split billing, fee allocation and advanced permissions. Elite, at $145, adds built in law office accounting, and the page notes that the QuickBooks Online integration is not available while you use those Elite accounting features.

None of the four plans includes the CRM. Core CRM costs $39 per user a month billed annually or $49 billed monthly, and gives you a lead inbox, one website intake form of up to 50 fields with basic conditional logic, one lead vendor integration, two automations, five document templates and up to five contracts for e-signature. Enterprise CRM is $147 a month billed annually for up to three users, plus $49 for each additional user, and raises the form to 100 fields with advanced logic, three lead vendors and unlimited automations.

What none of these options describes is the software holding the first conversation. A form captures fields. Answering a cold website visitor, asking the right screening questions in order and putting a qualified consultation on the calendar is still a person's job inside Rocket Matter, or a separate vendor's.

  • Essentials $59, Pro $95, Premier $115, Elite $145 per user a month, paid annually
  • Core CRM $39 per user yearly or $49 monthly: 1 intake form, 50 fields, 2 automations
  • Enterprise CRM $147 a month yearly for up to 3 users, then $49 per user
  • CRM add-on available on Pro and Premier only
  • Not described: the software screening and booking the lead itself

What intake costs a small firm on Rocket Matter

The real price of intake on Rocket Matter is the Pro plan plus the CRM. On annual billing that is $95 plus $39, or $134 per user a month, before the $399 onboarding fee. A three person firm pays $285 for Pro and $117 for Core CRM, $402 a month, which is $4,824 a year and $5,223 in the first year once the onboarding fee is added.

A solo attorney feels the minimum most. Because the CRM footnote sets a 3 user minimum, the smallest Core CRM bill we can read from the page is $117 a month, so one lawyer on Pro with intake pays about $212 a month, or $2,544 a year plus the $399 fee. A five person firm on Pro with Core CRM pays $670 a month, or $8,040 a year.

Those prices are fair for a firm that uses the billing and trust tools every day, and the CRM adds texting, email marketing and lead vendor feeds that a busy PI or immigration practice can use. The comparison only matters if intake was the reason for the spend. Consultations Practice, for up to five professionals, is $129 a month or $768 a year, and it holds the conversation instead of collecting a form.

  • Pro plus Core CRM: $134 per user a month on annual billing
  • Three users: $402 a month, $5,223 in year one with onboarding
  • Solo with the 3 user CRM minimum: about $212 a month plus $399
  • Five users: $670 a month, $8,040 a year
  • Consultations Practice, up to five professionals: $129 a month or $768 a year

Where Rocket Matter is still the better buy

If billing is the center of your practice, Rocket Matter is a serious option. It prints every plan price, includes payment processing, evergreen retainers, batch billing and LEDES codes, and the free trial starts without a credit card. Elite's built in accounting lets a firm reconcile operating, trust and credit card accounts without a separate bookkeeping tool.

It also suits a firm whose staff already answer every lead fast. A firm of three that is happy on Pro and calls every inquiry back within minutes may not need anything at the front door, and the CRM add-on gives that team a lead inbox and follow up automations in the same login as billing.

So this page does not argue that you should leave Rocket Matter. It argues that you should know you are paying a plan rate, a CRM rate and an onboarding fee for intake, and whether the job losing you new clients is a smaller one you can fix without a migration.

  • Firms where billing and trust accounting are the main job
  • Firms that want accounting built into practice management (Elite)
  • Teams that bill LEDES or split fees
  • Firms already taking payments through Rocket Matter Pay
  • Staff who already return every new inquiry within minutes

Rocket Matter competitors, by the job you are replacing

PracticePanther is the closest like for like comparison. Read on 2 October 2026, it charges $49, $69, $89 and $114 per user a month billed yearly, with intake forms, texting and eSignature starting on Business at $89. That is $45 a user less than Rocket Matter Pro with Core CRM, and there is no separate onboarding fee for intake.

MyCase, read on 5 October 2026, puts intake forms and a legal CRM inside its Pro plan at $100 per user billed yearly. Clio publishes an entry price from $49 per user a month and sells Clio Grow for intake on its higher plans. CosmoLex is the usual pick for firms that want accounting inside the practice system, and Rocket Matter's own Elite tier answers the same need. If you mainly want a different intake layer rather than a different practice system, the names are Lawmatics, Lead Docket and Law Ruler, all quote only, and all of them still depend on staff to hold the first conversation.

If the bottleneck is response time, or inquiries arrive after the office has closed, the alternative is a different kind of product rather than a different practice management suite.

  • Like for like practice management: PracticePanther, $89 per user yearly for intake
  • MyCase Pro, $100 per user yearly with intake forms and CRM included
  • Clio, from $49 per user, with Grow for intake on higher plans
  • Quote only intake CRMs: Lawmatics, Lead Docket, Law Ruler
  • The website conversation itself, at any hour: an AI intake agent from $49 a month

Running Consultations with Rocket Matter, or instead of it

The most common setup keeps Rocket Matter for billing and matters and puts Consultations at the front door of the website. The prospective client talks to the intake conversation, answers the screening questions your firm defines, names the other parties, uploads the documents the matter needs and books a consultation if they fit. The completed intake exports, so your team opens the matter in Rocket Matter as usual. That lets an Essentials firm screen and book web leads without upgrading every seat to Pro and buying the CRM.

Choosing Consultations instead of Rocket Matter makes sense for a firm that went shopping mainly to stop losing inquiries and already bills in another tool. Solo is $49 a month for one attorney. Practice, at $129 for up to five professionals, adds document collection during intake and qualification rules per practice area. Firm, at $299 for up to twenty, adds voice intake alongside chat and advanced integrations. All three are flat per firm, with no onboarding fee.

Every plan is paid by card, monthly with no annual term or once a year at half the monthly price: $288, $768 or $1,788. You can run the intake conversation at the top of this page right now and see what a prospective client sees.

  • Alongside Rocket Matter: web intake runs first, the record exports to your matter
  • Keeps an Essentials firm off Pro plus CRM just for intake
  • Captures every party name at intake, so the conflict check has clean input
  • Instead of Rocket Matter, if the conversation was the job: from $49 a month
  • No per user charge and no onboarding fee

Rocket Matter vs Consultations, answered

The completed intake is exportable, so your team can open the matter in Rocket Matter and bill from there as usual.
No, it is per firm. Solo is $49 a month for one professional, Practice is $129 for up to five and Firm is $299 for up to twenty. Pay monthly with no annual term, or once a year at half the monthly price: $288, $768 or $1,788. There is no onboarding fee.
