LEAP Alternatives and LEAP Competitors for Law Firm Intake and Booking

US firms start looking for a LEAP alternative for a few reasons: a quote that needs a sales call to obtain, an implementation fee on top of the subscription, or the discovery that capturing and booking new clients happens in a separate product. This page sets out what LEAP publishes, read from its US pricing page and homepage on 9 October 2026, where LEAP is still the right buy, what each realistic competitor prints on its own pricing page, and when the problem costing you new clients is solved by a smaller product.

In short

LEAP Legal Software publishes no price for its US subscription. Read from its US pricing page on 9 October 2026, the page offers one subscription with a Request pricing form, says a one time implementation fee may apply, and notes that some third party integrations need their own subscription. The page lists no online booking or lead intake for prospective clients, and LEAP names Lawmatics among its integrations. If the job you need done is screening and booking each new website inquiry before another firm answers, Consultations does that from $49 a month, flat per firm, priced on the page.

Attorney and legal assistant checking the consultation calendar on a tablet at the front desk of a small law office

LEAP is practice management for small and midsize firms built around automated legal forms: case management, a library of forms and templates, document automation, legal accounting, billing, trust accounting and automatic timekeeping, all working inside Microsoft 365. Estate planning, family law, real estate and other form heavy practices buy it for that library and for its WealthCounsel connection. Consultations does one job at the front door. It talks to the prospective client the moment they reach your website, asks your screening questions in plain conversation, checks the answers against the matters you take, collects the documents and party names a conflict search needs, and books the consultation on your calendar. It does not manage matters, draft forms or keep trust accounts, and its price is printed on the page and flat per firm.

Why pros pick Consultations

One AI conversation that qualifies, intakes, books, and briefs

An AI conversation, not a form

Instead of a static form or a calendar link, our AI talks with each lead in plain language, qualifies them against your criteria, and asks for exactly what you need to know.

The whole front door in one place

Qualify, intake, collect documents, book the paid appointment, and produce a prepped brief, all in a single conversation, so you stop stitching tools together.

You walk in prepared

Every booked meeting comes with a clean brief of who is coming and why, so you only take the right consultations and you are ready before the call starts.

Why firms look for a LEAP alternative

Few firms leave LEAP because the forms library is thin. Automated forms and templates that fill themselves from matter data are the reason most of them bought it, and for estate planning, family law or real estate closings they save real time on every file. The reasons people start comparing usually sit somewhere else.

The first is price visibility. LEAP's US pricing page carries the line One Platform, One Price, but it prints no number. The only way to learn the figure is the Request pricing form, and the page adds that a one time implementation fee may apply for installation, data migration and onboarding. A managing partner who wants to compare LEAP against a competitor in an afternoon cannot do it from the page.

The second is where new client intake sits. The pricing page lists case management, forms, timekeeping, storage and mobile access, and says some third party integrations need a separate subscription. It lists nothing for capturing a web lead or letting a prospective client book a consultation, and LEAP names Lawmatics, a separate intake and marketing CRM, among its integrations. The third reason decides revenue. A prospective client who reaches your website at 9 at night and gets no answer signs with whichever firm responds first.

  • No published US price for the subscription
  • A one time implementation fee may apply on top
  • Some third party integrations need their own subscription
  • No lead intake or online booking for prospects listed on the pricing page
  • Lawmatics, itself quote only, named among LEAP integrations

What a LEAP subscription includes, and what it leaves out

LEAP sells one subscription in the US rather than a ladder of plans. Its pricing page lists a library of automated forms and templates, legal AI tools, automatic timekeeping, unlimited document storage and remote and mobile app access, and describes case management, document automation, legal accounting and billing as one system that works with your Microsoft 365 subscription. Trust accounting for IOLTA, online payments and reporting are listed across the site, and LEAP says it is hosted on AWS and holds SOC 2 Type 2 certification.

The migration offer is broad. LEAP says its team moves contacts, matters, staff and historical correspondence from Clio, MyCase, PracticePanther, PCLaw, Time Matters, Actionstep, Rocket Matter, Filevine, CosmoLex or Firm Central, and sometimes time entries and opening balances too.

What the page does not describe is the software holding the first conversation with someone who is not yet a client. LEAP's homepage says it runs from intake to invoice, and once a matter is opened that is fair. Answering a cold website visitor, asking screening questions in order, deciding whether the matter fits and putting a consultation on the calendar is still a person's job, or a separate product's.

  • One US subscription, priced on request
  • Forms library, document automation, timekeeping and billing included
  • Works inside Microsoft 365; mobile app included
  • Migration from Clio, MyCase, PracticePanther, Filevine, CosmoLex and others
  • Not described: the software screening and booking a new lead itself

What intake costs with LEAP compared with competitors that print a price

Because LEAP prints nothing, the honest comparison is against the competitors that do. For a three person firm that wants intake forms inside the practice system, PracticePanther Business at $89 per user billed yearly is $267 a month, MyCase Pro at $100 per user is $300 a month, and CosmoLex Pro at $129 per user, the plan that adds online scheduling, is $387 a month. Rocket Matter Pro with its CRM add-on is $95 plus $39 per user, or $402 a month, plus a $399 onboarding fee.

A LEAP firm that wants dedicated web intake usually ends up pricing a second product. Lawmatics, the intake CRM LEAP names among its integrations, also publishes no price, and its pricing page sets a three user minimum on its Essential and Premium tiers. So the realistic LEAP intake budget is two quotes, two contracts and possibly two setup fees. Ask both vendors for all of those numbers before you sign.

Those prices are fair for a firm that uses the whole practice system every day. The comparison only matters if intake was the reason for the spend. Consultations Practice, for up to five professionals, is $129 a month or $768 a year, and it holds the conversation and books the consultation instead of recording a lead for someone to call back.

  • PracticePanther Business, 3 users: $267 a month billed yearly
  • MyCase Pro, 3 users: $300 a month billed yearly
  • CosmoLex Pro, 3 users: $387 a month yearly, with online scheduling
  • LEAP plus Lawmatics: two quotes, a 3 user minimum on Lawmatics, possible setup fees
  • Consultations Practice, up to five professionals: $129 a month or $768 a year

Where LEAP is still the better buy

If your work is form heavy, LEAP is a serious option. The automated forms library, the WealthCounsel connection for estate planning drafting and trust administration, and real estate tools such as settlement forms and payoff calculations go deeper than most general practice suites. Automatic timekeeping recovers billable time that manual entry misses, and the Microsoft 365 integration keeps Outlook and Word at the center of the day.

It also suits a firm whose staff already answer every new inquiry quickly. An estate planning practice whose assistant returns each call within minutes may not need anything at the front door, and LEAP keeps matters, documents, billing and trust in one place once the client signs.

So this page does not argue that you should leave LEAP. It argues that you should know the price is quote only with a possible implementation fee, that lead intake sits outside the listed subscription, and whether the job costing you new clients is a smaller one you can fix without a migration.

  • Estate planning and probate firms, especially with WealthCounsel
  • Real estate closings that need settlement forms and payoff math
  • Family law and business law practices that live in forms
  • Firms that want automatic timekeeping inside Microsoft 365
  • Staff who already return every new inquiry within minutes

LEAP competitors, by the job you are replacing

If you want a different practice system with intake in the plan and a printed price, the like for like names are PracticePanther Business at $89 per user billed yearly, read on 2 October 2026, and MyCase Pro at $100, read on 5 October. CosmoLex, read on 7 October, charges $49, $99 and $129 per user yearly and puts online scheduling on Pro. Smokeball, read on 8 October, is the closest match to LEAP on forms and also publishes no price.

Clio publishes an entry price from $49 per user a month and sells Clio Grow for intake on its higher plans. If you mainly want a separate intake layer next to LEAP rather than a new practice system, the names are Lawmatics, Lead Docket and Law Ruler, all quote only, and all of them still depend on staff to hold the first conversation.

If the bottleneck is response time, or inquiries arrive after the office has closed, the alternative is a different kind of product rather than a different practice management suite.

  • Printed price with intake in the plan: PracticePanther Business $89, MyCase Pro $100
  • Online scheduling in the plan: CosmoLex Pro, $129 per user yearly
  • Forms depth, also quote only: Smokeball
  • Clio, from $49 per user, with Grow for intake on higher plans
  • The website conversation itself, at any hour: an AI intake agent from $49 a month

Running Consultations with LEAP, or instead of it

The most common setup keeps LEAP for matters, forms and billing and puts Consultations at the front door of the website. The prospective client talks to the intake conversation, answers the screening questions your firm defines, names the other parties, uploads the documents the matter needs and books a consultation if they fit. The completed intake exports, so your team opens the matter in LEAP as usual. That gives a LEAP firm screened, booked web leads without adding a second quote only CRM.

Choosing Consultations instead of LEAP makes sense for a firm that went shopping mainly to stop losing inquiries and already keeps matters in another tool. Solo is $49 a month for one attorney. Practice, at $129 for up to five professionals, adds document collection during intake and qualification rules per practice area. Firm, at $299 for up to twenty, adds voice intake alongside chat and advanced integrations. All three are flat per firm, with no onboarding fee.

Every plan is paid by card, monthly with no annual term or once a year at about half the monthly price: $288, $768 or $1,788. You can run the intake conversation at the top of this page right now and see what a prospective client sees.

  • Alongside LEAP: web intake runs first, the record exports to your matter
  • No second quote only intake CRM to buy for web leads
  • Captures every party name at intake, so the conflict check has clean input
  • Instead of LEAP, if the conversation was the job: from $49 a month
  • A printed price, no quote call and no implementation fee

LEAP and its competitors, what each vendor publishes

LEAP and our own plans were read from the vendor sites on 9 October 2026, Smokeball and Lawmatics on 8 October, CosmoLex on 7 October, MyCase on 5 October and PracticePanther on 2 October 2026. Clio blocks automated reads, so its figure is the entry price it published in August 2026. Where a vendor shows no number, the table says so rather than estimating one.

Some US directories show LEAP at $49 per user a month. LEAP does not print that figure on its US or UK pricing page, both of which ask you to request a quote, so treat directory numbers as unconfirmed. Vendors change prices without notice, so confirm with the vendor before you sign.

What buyers ask about LEAP alternatives

What is the best alternative to LEAP?

It depends on the job. For practice management with intake in the plan and a printed price, PracticePanther Business at $89 per user billed yearly or MyCase Pro at $100. For built in accounting with online scheduling, CosmoLex Pro. If web inquiries wait too long for someone to screen them, Consultations runs the intake conversation itself, from $49 a month flat per firm.

How much does LEAP legal software cost?

LEAP does not publish a US price. Read on 9 October 2026, its US pricing page offers one subscription behind a Request pricing form, says a one time implementation fee may apply for installation, data migration and onboarding, and notes that some third party integrations need a separate subscription. Directory figures such as $49 per user are not on the vendor page.

Who are LEAP's competitors?

In the US, LEAP competes with practice management suites such as Clio, MyCase, PracticePanther, Smokeball, CosmoLex, Rocket Matter and Filevine. For new client intake it sits next to Lawmatics, Lead Docket and Law Ruler. Of these, MyCase, PracticePanther, CosmoLex and Rocket Matter print their prices; LEAP, Smokeball and the intake CRMs quote on request.

Does LEAP have client intake?

LEAP describes its workflow as running from intake to invoice, and it collects client details when a matter is opened. Its US pricing page lists no lead capture or online booking for prospective clients, and LEAP names Lawmatics, a separate intake CRM, among its integrations. Firms that want web leads screened and booked usually add a separate tool.

Is LEAP better than Clio?

LEAP is stronger on automated legal forms, estate planning drafting through WealthCounsel and real estate closing tools, which suits form heavy practices. Clio has the larger integration marketplace, publishes an entry price from $49 per user and sells a dedicated intake product, Clio Grow. LEAP publishes no price, so compare written quotes.

Is LEAP cloud based?

Yes. LEAP says its practice management software is hosted on Amazon Web Services and is SOC 2 Type 2 certified, with remote and mobile app access in the subscription. It works alongside your Microsoft 365 subscription, syncing email and calendar items and letting staff create documents in Word.

Good questions

LEAP vs Consultations, answered

Yes. Consultations runs the intake conversation on your website, qualifies the inquiry against your criteria, records the parties involved, collects documents and books the consultation. The completed intake is exportable, so your team can open the matter in LEAP and work it there as usual.
No, it is per firm. Solo is $49 a month for one professional, Practice is $129 for up to five and Firm is $299 for up to twenty. Pay monthly with no annual term, or once a year at about half the monthly price: $288, $768 or $1,788. There is no onboarding fee.
No. It handles intake, qualification, document collection and scheduling only. It asks the questions your firm defines, tells a prospective client honestly when the matter falls outside what you take, and leaves every legal judgment to the attorney, who gets a structured brief before the consultation.
No. It does not draft legal forms, manage matters, track time, send invoices or keep trust accounts. It captures the client, adverse and related party names and the documents a matter needs during intake, then hands the record to the system where your firm keeps its matters.
