CosmoLex Alternatives and CosmoLex Competitors for Intake and Online Booking

Small US firms start looking for a CosmoLex alternative for a few specific reasons: a renewal where the per user bill grew with each hire, the discovery that online scheduling sits on the top plan, or a run of web inquiries that went cold before anyone called back. This page sets out what CosmoLex publishes, read from cosmolex.com/pricing on 7 October 2026, where CosmoLex is still the right buy, what each realistic competitor costs, and when the problem costing you new clients is solved by a smaller product.

In short

CosmoLex charges $49, $99 and $129 per user a month on yearly billing for Launch, Core and Pro, or $59, $109 and $139 billed monthly, read from its own pricing page on 7 October 2026. Lead capture and the AI intake form builder start on Core, but intake workflow automation and online scheduling are Pro only, and the full CosmoLex CRM is a separate add-on at $147 a month yearly for up to three users. So booking a consultation online inside CosmoLex starts at $129 per user a month. If the job you need done is screening and booking each new website inquiry before another firm answers, Consultations runs that conversation from $49 a month, flat per firm.

Solo attorney balancing a trust ledger and a consultation calendar at a tidy desk

CosmoLex, part of ProfitSolv like Rocket Matter, is practice management built around legal accounting for small US firms: trust accounting and ledgers, compliance reporting, time tracking and invoicing on every plan, then bank reconciliation, LEDES billing and intake forms on Core, and a full general ledger, payables and bank feeds on Pro. Its selling point is that a firm can run trust and business accounting without a separate bookkeeping tool. Consultations does one job at the front door. It talks to the prospective client the moment they reach your website, asks your screening questions in plain conversation, checks the answers against the matters you take, collects the documents and the party names a conflict search needs, and books the consultation on your calendar. It does not bill, keep trust accounts or run a ledger, and it is priced flat per firm instead of per user.

Why pros pick Consultations

One AI conversation that qualifies, intakes, books, and briefs

An AI conversation, not a form

Instead of a static form or a calendar link, our AI talks with each lead in plain language, qualifies them against your criteria, and asks for exactly what you need to know.

The whole front door in one place

Qualify, intake, collect documents, book the paid appointment, and produce a prepped brief, all in a single conversation, so you stop stitching tools together.

You walk in prepared

Every booked meeting comes with a clean brief of who is coming and why, so you only take the right consultations and you are ready before the call starts.

Why firms look for a CosmoLex alternative

Few firms leave CosmoLex because the accounting is weak. Accounting is the reason most of them bought it: trust ledgers, three way reconciliation and compliance reporting live inside the same login as time and billing, so a solo practitioner does not need a separate bookkeeping system to stay on the right side of the state bar trust rules. The reasons people start comparing usually sit elsewhere.

The first is that intake is split across tiers. Launch has no intake at all. Core adds lead capture, intake and an AI intake form builder. Intake workflow automation and online scheduling with calendar sync are listed on Pro, and the CosmoLex CRM, with marketing automation, drip campaigns and e-signature, is a separate add-on on top of whichever plan you hold.

The second is how the bill stacks: per user on the plan, then a flat CRM fee, then a Websites add-on if you want CosmoLex to host the site the leads arrive on. The third reason is the one that decides revenue. An intake form helps once a person is working the lead, but a prospective client who reaches your website at 9 at night and gets no answer signs with whichever firm responds first.

  • Per user pricing that grows with every hire
  • No intake on Launch; intake forms start on Core
  • Online scheduling listed on Pro only, $129 per user yearly
  • CRM add-on $147 a month yearly or $177 monthly, not in the trial
  • Staff still screen and call back every new inquiry

What CosmoLex includes for intake on each plan

Launch, at $49 per user a month on yearly billing or $59 monthly, covers time tracking and invoicing, flexible billing and retainers, online payments, trust accounting and ledgers, compliance reporting, matter management and a client portal. Core, at $99 yearly or $109 monthly, adds LEDES and split billing, bank reconciliation, matter budgets, document assembly, AI document summaries, lead capture and intake, and the AI intake form builder. Pro, at $129 yearly or $139 monthly, adds the general ledger and payables, bank feeds, advanced compliance reporting, intake workflow automation, online scheduling and calendar sync, and Open API access.

The CosmoLex CRM add-on is priced flat rather than per user. The vendor lists it at $147 a month billed yearly or $177 billed monthly, for up to three users, and describes marketing automation, client intake, contact management, logic based intake forms, automated workflows, email and text drip campaigns and e-signature. The page does not print a rate for a fourth user. The Websites add-on is $149 a month yearly or $159 monthly.

What none of these options describes is the software holding the first conversation. A form captures fields and a scheduler shows open slots. Answering a cold website visitor, asking the right screening questions in order and deciding whether the matter fits before a consultation goes on the calendar is still a person's job inside CosmoLex.

  • Launch $49, Core $99, Pro $129 per user a month, billed yearly
  • Monthly billing: $59, $109 and $139, about $120 a user more each year
  • Intake forms from Core; online scheduling and intake automation on Pro
  • CRM add-on $147 a month yearly, $177 monthly, up to 3 users
  • Not described: the software screening and booking the lead itself

What intake costs a small firm on CosmoLex

If you want a prospective client to book a consultation online inside CosmoLex, you need Pro. On yearly billing a solo attorney pays $129 a month, or $1,548 a year, and $139 a month billed monthly. A three person firm pays $387 a month on Pro, which is $4,644 a year, and adding the CRM for drip campaigns and e-signature takes it to $534 a month, or $6,408 a year.

A firm that only needs intake forms can stay on Core. Three users on Core cost $297 a month yearly, or $3,564 a year, and five users cost $495 a month. Five users on Pro cost $645 a month, or $7,740 a year, before the CRM or a website.

Those prices are fair for a firm that uses the trust and business accounting every day, because a separate bookkeeping tool and an outside reconciliation service also cost money. The comparison only matters if intake was the reason for the spend. Consultations Practice, for up to five professionals, is $129 a month or $768 a year, and it holds the conversation and books the consultation instead of collecting a form.

  • Solo on Pro for online booking: $129 a month yearly, $1,548 a year
  • Three users on Pro: $387 a month; with the CRM add-on: $534 a month
  • Three users on Core, intake forms only: $297 a month
  • Five users on Pro: $645 a month, $7,740 a year
  • Consultations Practice, up to five professionals: $129 a month or $768 a year

Where CosmoLex is still the better buy

If trust accounting is where your practice carries risk, CosmoLex is a serious option. It prints every plan price in both billing modes, puts trust ledgers and compliance reporting on the entry plan, and on Pro replaces a separate general ledger and payables system. The 10 day trial has full functionality except a single bank feed connection, and no credit card is required.

It also suits a firm whose staff already answer every lead quickly. A two person firm that is happy on Core and returns each inquiry within minutes may not need anything at the front door, and the intake form builder gives that team structured answers in the same system as billing.

So this page does not argue that you should leave CosmoLex. It argues that you should know you are paying for Pro seats to get online booking, and a flat CRM fee for follow up, and whether the job losing you new clients is a smaller one you can fix without a migration.

  • Firms where trust accounting and compliance are the main job
  • Solos who want one system instead of practice software plus bookkeeping
  • Firms that bill LEDES or split fees (Core and up)
  • Firms that want a general ledger and payables inside the practice system (Pro)
  • Staff who already return every new inquiry within minutes

CosmoLex competitors, by the job you are replacing

Rocket Matter, which ProfitSolv also owns, is the closest sibling. Read on 6 October 2026, it charges $59, $95, $115 and $145 per user a month paid annually, and puts intake forms in a CRM add-on at $39 per user yearly with a $399 onboarding fee. PracticePanther, read on 2 October 2026, charges $49, $69, $89 and $114 per user billed yearly, with intake forms on Business at $89. MyCase Pro, read on 5 October 2026, includes intake forms and a legal CRM at $100 per user yearly.

Clio publishes an entry price from $49 per user a month and sells Clio Grow for intake on its higher plans; it relies on integrations for the depth of accounting CosmoLex builds in. If you mainly want a different intake layer rather than a different practice system, the names are Lawmatics, Lead Docket and Law Ruler, all quote only, and all of them still depend on staff to hold the first conversation.

If the bottleneck is response time, or inquiries arrive after the office has closed, the alternative is a different kind of product rather than a different practice management suite.

  • Sibling product: Rocket Matter, $95 per user plus a CRM add-on for intake
  • Like for like with intake in the plan: PracticePanther Business $89, MyCase Pro $100
  • Clio, from $49 per user, with Grow for intake on higher plans
  • Quote only intake CRMs: Lawmatics, Lead Docket, Law Ruler
  • The website conversation itself, at any hour: an AI intake agent from $49 a month

Running Consultations with CosmoLex, or instead of it

The most common setup keeps CosmoLex for accounting, billing and matters and puts Consultations at the front door of the website. The prospective client talks to the intake conversation, answers the screening questions your firm defines, names the other parties, uploads the documents the matter needs and books a consultation if they fit. The completed intake exports, so your team opens the matter in CosmoLex as usual. That lets a Launch or Core firm screen and book web leads without moving every seat to Pro for the scheduler.

Choosing Consultations instead of CosmoLex makes sense for a firm that went shopping mainly to stop losing inquiries and already keeps its books in another tool. Solo is $49 a month for one attorney. Practice, at $129 for up to five professionals, adds document collection during intake and qualification rules per practice area. Firm, at $299 for up to twenty, adds voice intake alongside chat and advanced integrations. All three are flat per firm, with no onboarding fee.

Every plan is paid by card, monthly with no annual term or once a year at half the monthly price: $288, $768 or $1,788. You can run the intake conversation at the top of this page right now and see what a prospective client sees.

  • Alongside CosmoLex: web intake runs first, the record exports to your matter
  • Keeps a Launch or Core firm off Pro just for online booking
  • Captures every party name at intake, so the conflict check has clean input
  • Instead of CosmoLex, if the conversation was the job: from $49 a month
  • No per user charge and no onboarding fee

CosmoLex and its competitors, what each vendor publishes

CosmoLex and our own plans were read from the vendor sites on 7 October 2026, Rocket Matter on 6 October, MyCase on 5 October and PracticePanther on 2 October 2026. Clio blocks automated reads, so its figure is the entry price it published in August 2026. Where a vendor shows no number, the table says so rather than estimating one.

Product Published price How it bills Automated intake?

Consultations Practice $129 a month, or $768 a year Up to 5 professionals, flat Yes, plus document collection and rules per practice area

Some pricing directories list CosmoLex plans at $147 and $177 per user. On the vendor page those two figures are the CRM add-on, yearly and monthly, for up to three users, not a plan. Vendors change prices without notice, so confirm with the vendor before you sign.

Good questions

CosmoLex vs Consultations, answered

Yes. Consultations runs the intake conversation on your website, qualifies the inquiry against your criteria, records the parties involved, collects documents and books the consultation. The completed intake is exportable, so your team can open the matter in CosmoLex and bill and account for it there as usual.
No, it is per firm. Solo is $49 a month for one professional, Practice is $129 for up to five and Firm is $299 for up to twenty. Pay monthly with no annual term, or once a year at half the monthly price: $288, $768 or $1,788. There is no onboarding fee.
No. It handles intake, qualification, document collection and scheduling only. It asks the questions your firm defines, tells a prospective client honestly when the matter falls outside what you take, and leaves every legal judgment to the attorney, who gets a structured brief before the consultation.
No. It does not track time, send invoices, take payments, keep trust ledgers or reconcile accounts. It captures the client, adverse and related party names during intake, which is the input a conflict check depends on, and hands the record to the system where your firm keeps its matters and books.
