Clio Grow alternative that runs the intake conversation itself
Clio Grow is Clio's legal client intake and CRM product, sold alongside Clio Manage. It covers intake forms, online appointment booking with consultation payment, e-signature on retainers, conflict and duplicate checks at intake, pipeline stages, email marketing, a website builder, and Google Local Services Ads. Its real strength is the native sync into Clio Manage: intake data lands in the matter and billing system with no double entry, so the chain from intake to consult to payment to signed retainer stays inside one system of record, backed by the largest install base and integration surface in US legal, with unlimited support. A firm already running on Clio Manage will find that hard to beat.
The honest limit is what Grow is: form and pipeline software. It does not talk to the client. Someone at the firm still has to answer, ask the qualifying questions, and chase the documents. It is also a separate per seat SKU at $59 per user per month, addable to Essentials or Advanced only, at the annual rates Clio publishes (checked July 2026). A firm on Essentials at $89 therefore pays $148 per user per month, which prices intake per lawyer rather than per lead. Consultations runs the discovery conversation itself: the AI qualifies the lead against your criteria, collects the details and documents, books the paid consultation, and hands the lawyer a prepped brief. It handles intake, qualification, scheduling, and admin only, never legal advice; the licensed attorney advises.

Clio Grow wins on system of record: intake flows natively into Clio Manage for matters and billing, with no double entry and the deepest integration surface in US legal. Consultations wins at the front door. Grow gives you a form and a pipeline, so a person still has to run the conversation and chase documents, and the seat price ($59 per user per month on top of Essentials or Advanced, checked July 2026) means intake is billed per lawyer. Consultations is an AI agent that runs the discovery conversation, qualifies against your criteria, collects the documents, books the paid consult, and hands over a prepped brief.
Side by side
Clio Grow vs Consultations, honestly
A fair look at what each does well. Both are capable tools. Here is where they differ.
| What matters | Consultations | Clio Grow |
|---|---|---|
| Pricing model | Built around qualified, booked, and briefed consultations rather than a per lawyer seat fee | A $59 per user per month add-on to Clio Manage, on annual rates published by Clio (checked July 2026) |
| What intake costs | Cost tracks the leads you actually qualify and book, not how many lawyers you employ | Essentials at $89 plus Grow at $59 is $148 per user per month; Expand at $149 includes Grow (checked July 2026) |
| Who runs the discovery conversation | The AI runs it in plain language, asks follow up questions, and adapts to the answers | Nobody in the software: Grow supplies the form and the pipeline, a person asks the questions |
| Document collection | Asks for, collects, and chases the documents you need before the consultation | Intake forms and e-signature on retainers; missing documents are followed up by your staff |
| Books and takes payment for the consult | Books the paid appointment at the end of a qualified intake conversation | Online booking with consultation payment and e-signature, all inside the Clio chain |
| Practice management and billing sync | Front door only; your data is consented, owned, and exports cleanly into your case system | Native sync into Clio Manage with no double entry, plus the widest legal integration surface |
| Prepped brief for the lawyer | Hands the attorney a clean brief before the first word of the consultation | Shows the submitted form fields and the pipeline stage on the contact record |
| Scope and guardrails | Intake, qualification, scheduling, and admin only, never legal advice | Intake and marketing software; the firm gives all legal advice |
