Filevine Alternative and Filevine Competitors Compared by Price
Firms look for a Filevine alternative for three reasons: the renewal quote arrived, the implementation is taking longer than the demo suggested, or they priced the Intake package on top of Matters and wondered whether intake needs a platform at all. This page sets out what Filevine actually publishes, read from its own pricing and intake pages on 27 September 2026, where it is still the right buy, what each realistic competitor costs, and when the thing losing you cases is a different kind of product altogether.

In short
Filevine is a legal work platform sold in packages (Matters, Intake, Depositions and Signatures) with no published price: its pricing page, read 27 September 2026, says each organization is unique and routes you to sales for a custom quote, with setup handled by Certified Implementation Partners. Its intake package is Lead Docket. The closest rival that prints a price is CasePeer, at $90, $130 and $160 per user a month, with intake from $130. If the job you actually need done is every new inquiry screened and booked before another firm calls back, Consultations runs that intake conversation itself, from $49 a month for one attorney or $129 for up to five, in front of whatever case system you keep.
Filevine is a system of record for a law firm: matters, documents, document assembly, billing and payments, with extensions for analytics, court deadlines, a client portal and data access, plus separate packages for intake, depositions and e-signatures, and its LOIS AI layer across the top. Consultations does one job at the very front. It talks to the prospective client the moment they reach your website, asks your screening questions in plain conversation, checks the answers against the criteria your firm sets, collects the documents the matter needs and books the consultation, then hands the attorney a structured brief. If you want one platform to run every matter, Filevine is a serious home for it. If signed cases are slipping because nobody reached the lead in time, that part can be fixed this week without moving a single file.

| Runs the intake conversation itself | Yes. An AI conversation screens every website inquiry at any hour | Lead Docket sends automated SMS and email follow ups; staff run the conversation |

Why pros pick Consultations
One AI conversation that qualifies, intakes, books, and briefs
An AI conversation, not a form
Instead of a static form or a calendar link, our AI talks with each lead in plain language, qualifies them against your criteria, and asks for exactly what you need to know.
The whole front door in one place
Qualify, intake, collect documents, book the paid appointment, and produce a prepped brief, all in a single conversation, so you stop stitching tools together.
You walk in prepared
Every booked meeting comes with a clean brief of who is coming and why, so you only take the right consultations and you are ready before the call starts.
Why firms look for a Filevine alternative
Few firms leave Filevine because it lacks features. Its Matters package alone covers matter management with task tracking, contacts, deadlines and calendars, document management, one click document assembly and billing with time tracking, invoices and online payments. Extensions add Periscope business analytics, Timely court deadline generation for any US jurisdiction, a client portal and DataBridge access to your own data. For a firm that wants every matter in one configurable system, that is a lot of ground.
The first practical reason is the number. Read on 27 September 2026, Filevine's pricing page lists what is in each package and no price at all. Its FAQ answers How does Filevine pricing work? by saying each organization is unique and the team will tailor a plan, and the page ends with contact our sales team for a custom quote. Comparison sites fill the gap on their own. LegalTech Ranked states Filevine starts at $150 or more per user a month before add ons, with migration at $1,250 to $25,000 or more, and cites no source; SelectHub, by contrast, lists Filevine as custom quote only. None of those figures appears on filevine.com.
The second reason is the setup. Filevine says its onboarding runs through an ecosystem of Certified Implementation Partners who customize the system to your workflows. That flexibility is the product, and it is also time and cost that a small firm has to plan for. The third reason is the one that decides revenue: a case system only helps once the lead is inside it. The person who fills in your website form at 10 at night signs with whichever firm reaches them first.
- No published price on the pricing page, custom quote only
- Comparison site figures of $150 or more per user are not on the vendor site
- Intake (Lead Docket) is a separate package from Matters
- Setup runs through Certified Implementation Partners
- A lead that arrives after hours still waits for your intake team
What Filevine intake (Lead Docket and Leads AI) includes
Filevine sells intake as its own package with three parts. Lead Docket captures leads from every source and adds automated workflows, referral fee tracking and online payments. Lead Docket Automation moves leads forward with in app automations, form delivery and integration with case files. Leads AI adds lead summaries, sentiment analysis and automatic timelines, and Filevine's intake page says its AI reads your intake documents, answers questions about your leads and helps the team prioritize the cases most likely to convert.
On speed, the intake page promises to connect with leads in under 60 seconds: whether a lead arrives by web form, live chat or an after hours call, Lead Docket fires off automated SMS and email follow ups straight away. It also collects consultation fees or retainer deposits by card or ACH, tracks every lead with an owner and a next step, and reports which marketing sources produce signed cases. That attribution reporting is the reason many marketing driven personal injury firms buy it.
Two things are not on those pages. Filevine does not describe the software holding the qualifying conversation with the prospective client and booking the consultation onto an attorney's calendar; the automated message goes out, and your intake team takes it from there. And it does not say what the Intake package costs on its own or whether Leads AI is included in it. Ask both questions on the demo and get the answers in the written quote.
- Lead Docket: lead capture, automated workflows, referral fee tracking, online payments
- Lead Docket Automation: in app automations, form delivery, sync to case files
- Leads AI: summaries, sentiment analysis, timelines, prioritization
- Automated SMS and email follow up in under 60 seconds
- Not stated: the price of the Intake package, and calendar booking by the software
Where Filevine is still the better buy
If your firm wants one platform configured around exactly how it works, Filevine is built for that. Firms with an operations lead or a system administrator get the most out of it, because nearly every section, field and workflow can be shaped to the practice. Its reporting, court deadline generation and deposition tools (scheduling and hosting, a live AI second chair, a searchable deposition library and AI summaries) go well beyond what a smaller practice management tool offers.
It also serves a wide range of practices: personal injury, family law, mass torts, immigration, insurance defense, criminal defense and estate planning, plus prosecutors, public defenders and in house teams. And if your firm is marketing heavy and already lives in Lead Docket, keeping intake and matters in one vendor has real value, because the lead becomes the case without a handoff.
So this page does not argue that you should leave Filevine. It argues that you should know which job you are buying it for, and whether the job losing you signed cases is a smaller one you can fix without a platform decision.
- Deep configuration for firms with an admin to run it
- Court deadline generation and business analytics extensions
- Deposition scheduling, hosting, AI summaries and a deposition library
- Lead Docket attribution reporting for marketing driven firms
- Coverage across many practice areas and public sector teams
Filevine competitors, by the job you are replacing
CasePeer is the closest like for like for a personal injury firm, and unlike Filevine it prints a price. Read on 22 September 2026, it shows $90, $130 and $160 per user per month, with no long term contract or setup fee. Client intake management starts on Pro, so the honest intake floor there is $130 per user. Litify, built on Salesforce, is the other platform firms most often put next to Filevine; its pricing address, read 27 September 2026, redirects to a demo request form with no figure. SmartAdvocate and CloudLex are quote only too, and Jove, formerly GrowPath, publishes no figure but states the first year is free apart from a fixed implementation fee.
If the thing you are replacing is Lead Docket rather than the whole platform, the usual comparisons are Law Ruler (quote only, billed monthly on an annual term) and Lawmatics (no price on any tier, a three user minimum on Essential and Premium). For general practice firms that do not need a PI specialist, Clio and MyCase are the other names that come up, and both publish per user list prices.
Of the plaintiff side platforms, only CasePeer publishes a price. And apart from the voice agents inside SmartAdvocate, CloudLex and Litify, none of them talks to the prospective client for you. If your team is the bottleneck, or web inquiries arrive after the team has gone home, the alternative is a different kind of product: one that screens the prospect, collects documents and books the consultation on its own, in front of whichever case system you choose.
- PI case management with a real price: CasePeer, $130 per user for intake
- Salesforce based platform: Litify, demo request only
- Quote only PI platforms: SmartAdvocate, CloudLex; free first year: Jove
- Replacing Lead Docket only: Law Ruler or Lawmatics, both quote only
- The website conversation itself, at any hour: an AI intake agent from $49 a month
Running Consultations with Filevine, or instead of it
The most common setup is to keep Filevine and put Consultations at the front door of your website. The prospective client talks to the intake conversation, answers the screening questions your firm defines (date of the incident, treatment so far, liability facts, insurance, whether another firm is already involved), uploads photos or a police report, and books a consultation if they fit. The completed intake, with answers and documents, is yours to export into Filevine or Lead Docket, where your intake team and case workflows take over. The Firm plan adds advanced integrations.
Choosing Consultations instead of adding the Intake package makes sense for a smaller firm that was shopping mainly to stop losing inquiries. In that case the part you needed was the intake conversation itself, and it goes live the same day without a quote or an implementation partner. Solo is $49 a month for one attorney. Practice, at $129 for up to five professionals, adds document collection during intake and qualification rules per practice area. Firm, at $299 for up to twenty, adds voice intake alongside chat and advanced integrations. All three are flat per firm, with no implementation fee.
Every plan is paid by card, either monthly with no annual term or once a year at half the monthly price: $288, $768 or $1,788. You can run the intake conversation at the top of this page right now and see exactly what a prospective client would see.
- Alongside Filevine: web intake runs first, the record exports to your case system
- Instead of the Intake package, if the conversation was the job: $129 a month with documents
- No per user charge at any tier, no implementation fee
- Monthly with no annual term, or yearly at half the monthly price
- Live the same day, with your own screening questions

|---|---|---|---|
| Filevine (Matters package) | None. Custom quote | Packages plus extensions; setup by Certified Implementation Partners | No |
| Filevine Intake (Lead Docket, Leads AI) | None. Custom quote | Separate package; price not stated | Automated SMS and email follow up; staff hold the conversation |

| SmartAdvocate | None. Call for a quote | Custom quote; Cloud or Server | By phone, with the Intake AI Voice Agent where enabled |
| CloudLex | None. Request a demo | Custom quote by package | Enterprise, with Lexee AI where enabled |
| Jove (formerly GrowPath) | None. Custom quote | First year free minus implementation | No |
| Consultations Solo | $49 a month, or $288 a year | 1 professional, flat | Yes, on your website |
| Consultations Practice | $129 a month, or $768 a year | Up to 5 professionals, flat | Yes, on your website |
A figure of $150 or more per user a month for Filevine, and $165 to $330 for Litify, circulates on comparison sites with no source cited. Neither appears on the vendor sites, which quote each firm, so we do not treat either as a price. CasePeer's figures are its monthly per user list prices. Vendors change prices without notice, so confirm with the vendor before you sign.

What buyers ask about Filevine alternatives
What is the best alternative to Filevine?
It depends on the job. For personal injury case management with a published price, CasePeer is the closest match, at $130 per user a month for the tier that includes intake. For a Salesforce based platform, Litify. If web leads wait too long for a person to screen them, Consultations runs the intake conversation itself, from $49 a month.
How much does Filevine cost?
Filevine does not publish a price. Read on 27 September 2026, its pricing page lists the Matters, Intake, Depositions and Signatures packages with no figures, and its FAQ says each organization gets a tailored plan through a custom quote from sales. Per user figures on software directories are not from the vendor.
Who are Filevine's competitors?
Filevine competes with other legal case management platforms: Litify, CasePeer, SmartAdvocate, CloudLex, Jove (formerly GrowPath) and Neos, plus general practice tools such as Clio and MyCase. For intake specifically, Lead Docket competes with Law Ruler and Lawmatics. Of the plaintiff side platforms, CasePeer is the one that prints a price.
Is Lead Docket part of Filevine?
Yes. Lead Docket is Filevine's intake and lead tracking product, sold in Filevine's Intake package alongside Lead Docket Automation and Leads AI. It captures leads from every source, sends automated follow ups, collects consultation fees and reports marketing attribution. Filevine does not publish a separate price for the Intake package.
Does Filevine have a free trial?
Only for its AI research tool. Filevine offers LOIS Explore, a free tier of its LOIS legal research and drafting product with no credit card required, but its own FAQ says LOIS Explore does not include Filevine case management. To see the full platform, Filevine offers a demo and a custom quote.
Is Filevine good for small law firms?
It can be, if the firm has someone to configure and run it, since Filevine's strength is customization and its setup runs through implementation partners. A small firm whose main problem is converting inquiries often gets more from a focused intake tool with a published price, kept alongside a simpler case system.
