The right Plutio alternative for a coach depends on why Plutio stopped fitting. If the 9 active client cap on the $19 Core plan is the problem, the like for like move is Plutio Pro at $49 a month or Paperbell at $97, which both remove the cap. If you want to pay per client instead, CoachAccountable starts at $20 a month for 2 active clients. If the real problem is a calendar full of discovery calls with people who never buy, no project suite fixes that, and Consultations screens every prospect in a conversation before a slot is offered, from $49 a month.

How much does Plutio cost per month?
Plutio costs $19 a month on Core, $49 on Pro and $199 on Max, billed monthly. Paying yearly takes two months off, which works out to roughly $15, $39 and $159 a month. Every plan carries the same core features (projects, invoices, contracts, schedulers and forms), and the page says there are no setup or transaction fees, though your card processor still charges its own. The trial is 7 days with no card.
What changes between plans is scale. Core is limited to 9 active clients and no additional contributors, with 800 AI credits and 900 workflow actions a month. Pro removes the client limit, includes 30 contributors, 2,500 AI credits and 5,500 workflow actions. Max is unlimited contributors, white label and single sign on. For a coach, the number that matters is the first one: the tenth active client moves you from $19 to $49.
One caution. Plutio's own pricing page states that HoneyBook Starter is $36 a month and that Dubsado costs $35 to $55 a month. Neither figure is on those vendors' pricing pages when we read them this week: HoneyBook shows $29, $49 and $109 billed yearly, and Dubsado shows only annual prices of $335 and $525. Comparison pages written by a competitor are a starting point, not a quote.
Why coaches look for a Plutio alternative
Plutio is a good product at a low price, so coaches rarely leave because a feature is missing. They leave for one of three reasons.
The first is the client cap. A practice with 12 ongoing clients is paying $49, not $19, and at $49 the comparison set changes. Paperbell is $8 more and includes a coaching website and package checkout built around sessions rather than projects.
The second is shape. Plutio was built for freelancers and agencies: Kanban and Gantt views, time tracking, contributors, proposals that become projects. A one to one coach selling a 12 session package often uses a small part of that and wants the rest to get out of the way.
The third is the one that costs real money. Plutio's forms and scheduler capture the prospect and book the call, and they do it well. What they do not do is decide whether that prospect should get the call at all. If half your discovery calls are with people who cannot afford your package or want something you do not sell, a cheaper or more coach shaped suite changes nothing about that.
Is Plutio good for coaches?
Yes, for a solo coach with fewer than 10 active clients who wants proposals, contracts, invoices, a scheduler and a client portal in one login for $19 a month. Past 9 active clients it becomes a $49 product, and coaches who run programs, packages and session credits often find a coaching specific platform fits their workflow with less setup.
Plutio vs Paperbell for coaches
Paperbell is the closest coaching specific alternative. It sells one plan at $97 a month or $970 a year, with unlimited clients and sessions, scheduling, packages, contracts, payments and a coaching website, and it adds no transaction fees of its own. There is a 30 day money back guarantee. Against Plutio Pro at $49, you pay $8 more a month and trade project tools for a structure built around packages and sessions. Against Plutio Core at $19, Paperbell only wins if you have outgrown 9 clients or need the website. We set out the full field on our Paperbell alternative comparison.
Plutio vs HoneyBook and Dubsado
These two come up in every Plutio comparison, and both have the same catch: the advertised plan is not the one that books a call. HoneyBook Starter at $29 billed yearly has no Scheduler, which starts on Essentials at $49 billed yearly or $59 month to month, and card payments run 2.7% plus 10 cents. Dubsado Starter at $335 a year excludes scheduling and automated workflows, so the plan a coach can actually use is Premier at $525 a year. On price alone, Plutio Core undercuts both for a solo coach. If you are coming from HoneyBook, our HoneyBook alternative for coaches page prices every option side by side, and the Dubsado alternative page does the same for Dubsado.
CoachAccountable if you would rather pay per client
CoachAccountable prices by active client and nothing else: $20 a month for 2, $40 for 5, $70 for 10 and $120 for 20, continuing to $400 for 100. Every tier carries the full feature set, coach and admin seats are free, and the trial is 30 days with no card. For a coach with 6 or 7 high value clients and a heavy homework and accountability component, $70 a month for up to 10 buys a tool built for exactly that. For a coach with 25 clients paying modest fees, Plutio Pro or Paperbell is cheaper.
What is the best alternative to Plutio for discovery calls?
If the thing you want to fix is the discovery call itself, the best alternative is not another suite but a qualification step in front of the booking link. Consultations replaces the "book a free call" button with an AI conversation that asks what you would ask in the first ten minutes: what the prospect wants to change, their timeline, their budget range and whether they fit your niche. It follows up on vague answers, scores the prospect against your criteria, offers a time only to the ones who fit, and flags edge cases for you instead of rejecting them. You walk into each call with a written brief.
It is not a replacement for Plutio's invoices, contracts or projects, and it does not try to be. Most coaches who use it keep their suite for everything after the prospect says yes. You can see the conversation a prospect would have by running the intake desk at the top of this page.
Plutio alternative cost for a coach with 15 clients
Here is the arithmetic for a solo coach with 15 active clients who takes 8 discovery calls a week, using monthly list prices.
| Setup | Monthly cost | What it solves |
|---|---|---|
| Plutio Pro | $49 | Removes the 9 client cap; discovery calls unchanged |
| Paperbell | $97 | Coaching website, packages and sessions; discovery calls unchanged |
| CoachAccountable, 20 client tier | $120 | Accountability workflows; discovery calls unchanged |
| Plutio Pro plus Consultations Solo | $98 | Unlimited clients, and only qualified prospects reach the calendar |
| Paperbell plus Consultations Solo | $106 | Coaching specific suite, and screened discovery calls |
If screening cuts 8 calls a week to 4 better ones, that is roughly four hours returned every week, well over the $49 it costs, before counting the higher close rate on calls with prospects who already fit. If you also send prospects a readiness questionnaire before the program starts, an auto-graded online assessment can score it for you so the first session starts from the results.
Which Plutio alternative should you choose?
Choose by what is failing today. Stay on Plutio Core if you are a solo coach under 10 clients and it works. Move to Plutio Pro if the only issue is the cap and you like the tool. Move to Paperbell if you want a coaching shaped platform with a website included. Pick CoachAccountable for a small roster built on accountability. And if your calendar is the problem, put a qualification step in front of whichever suite you keep. Our client intake software for consultants and coaches page shows how that works on the Solo plan, and the wider shortlist is in our guide to the best client intake software for coaches.
